PUBLIC MEETING
The Town of Dauphin Island will host a Public Meeting at the Shelby Center on TUESDAY, APRIL 24, 2018 at 6PM to discuss DUNE PROTECTION. Preliminary maps of the island’s dune systems will be available for review. All island stakeholders are invited to attend and share ideas on ways dunes can be managed and protected to ensure they continue to provide valuable storm protection and resiliency for infrastructure and private property. Representatives with Barry A. Vittor & Associates, an environmental research and consulting firm, will be on hand to guide the discussion.

Island Erosion Letter Writing Campaign
A table will be set up in front of JG’s Ship & Shore this Saturday and Sunday, March 31 and April 1with prepared letters for the public to sign in support of the Corps of Engineers developing and implementing a solution to the island’s erosion problem.
The letters specifically note the importance of the Corps including a Plan to Mitigate for sand loss in the report that will likely recommend the ship channel be deepened and widened. Please stop by and sign one of the letters and remind your family, friends, and neighbors to do the same. The long-term resiliency and stability of Dauphin Island is at stake. Thank you! |
